Simply and bluntly put, many of the popular and most often used nail fungus remedies are terrible. They don’t work, many are expensive, and they just end up wasting your time and leaving you more frustrated than you were when you began. Here is a list of what not to do because treating nail fungus infections so that they go away forever requires real antiseptic power and quality ingredients – not this stuff.
The biggest myth floating around the internet is that Vicks vapor rub works very well for treating onychomycosis. This is absolutely false. We have read many customer reports and reviews of vicks as a treatment method and not one of them could claim that it got rid of the infection forever. There were a few reports of initial success, but nothing long term.
As far as Listerine as a nail fungus remedy, stick to using it in your mouth. It works great as a mouthwash but has no positive effects on nail infections. In some cases of fingernail fungus, we read that it actually irritated the skin around the nail and made the infection even more uncomfortable.
Lastly, what about vinegar to treat nail fungus. Out of the biggest myths of cures out there, this one is probably the biggest. Vinegar seems to have very little to no effect whatsoever on the fungi that is inhabiting the nail and infecting it. There were very few reports of anything happening at all, even after consistent use for extended periods of time.
